About this cabinet In the cabinet

1992, Epic MegaGames. Tim Sweeney wanted a Nintendo-style platformer with a woman in the lead and hired artists because he could not draw. Jill of the Jungle is episode one of three — the shareware door. You run a map of jungle ruins, throw a dagger that comes back, and in later rooms can become a frog, a bird, or a fish when the level asks for it.

The jump is the point: it is fairer than most shareware clones of the year. Knives that miss low enemies need to be thrown while you fall so the return path dips. Finish a level and you are sent back to the map. Shareware was how you met Jill. The rest you ordered.
